Our roots began when our founder Mr Leong Beng Kong left his hometown in Taiping, Malaysia at the age of 12 as a labourer in a post-war era 1964. Recognised by his bosses for his diligence and integrity, Mr Leong rose through the ranks after joining aluminium contractor Compact Metal Industries Ltd.
Shuang Lee Metal Works was formed in 1997 after Mr Leong had been awarded small sub-contracting works. Short for ”双方的利益“ (translates into ‘for the benefits of both parties’)， Shuang Lee (双利) follows Mr Leong’s ideals of creating business value for both the client and the company, in short, a win-win.
His relentless attitude to lift his family and the people around him out of financial hardships gained him the respect of his family and friends. Known for his sensible and conservative business practices, Shuang Lee has been growing steadily to a company with 200 staffs.
Shuang Lee now known as Shuang Lee Aluminium (SLA) is currently run by Mr Leong and his two sons Mr Leong (Shane) and Mr Leong (Bobby). Both trained as engineers in Singapore started working on the factory floor to gain fabrication experience. Now SLA has been transformed into a company that is innovative, steadfast and forward-looking, sustaining a multi-cultural workforce and constantly striving for better.
The SLA logo represents a multitude of meanings.
A Family: The four pillars symbolises the members of the family steep in this industry. Mom and Dad in the middle flanked by two sons on the left and right.
A Reflection: The logo shows itself on the factory floor when 2 corner curtainwall panels are placed in-between 2 typical panels. This is a reflection of the products that we are proud to fabricate at the same time these are the products that pay our bills.
A Vision: A city skyline is formed by the logo, a strong vision for the future we are creating with our own hands. We are a purpose driven part of the construction industry and we are also responsible for building the homes that people live in, the hospitals that people recover in or the schools that people grow in. At SLA we don’t just produce aluminium products, we fabricate tomorrow.
